We enjoy creating things. Most often, those things are made from wood. Occasionally they'll be made from plastic that's been extruded from a tiny nozzle at very high temperatures. Lasers may sometimes be involved, or even other robots. We'll get creative, and we want to share our adventures here.
NOTE! We have experience with the tools that are used in our videos. Some of them are dangerous when not properly used. If you think you also want to make some stuff, please do so only after knowing how to safely use any tools or equipment involved. If anything you see here seems unsafe, do not try it for yourself!

Creating a Vintage Town Sign
A buddy of mine made a cool fiction podcast. He wrote, performed, recorded, the whole thing on his own. It's based around a man's searching for a place that may or may not exist in the northwoods of Minnesota. It inspired me to make a sign for him. Watch the video to see me do it, and check out aicstories.com to find the best place to listen to the entire 3-season story.

Plethora of Padauk Pens.
Переглядів 3752 роки тому
I wanted to make a gift for all the friends I saw when I went to Virginia for #highcalibercamp last month. We were putting together a maker swag bag, so I thought a nice pen would be a good addition, as the group didn't really have many turners. I grabbed some paduak and got to work! Thanks for watching how I did it. Chapters: 00:00 - Cutting the blanks 01:46 - Drilling the blanks 02:24 - Gluin...

I had the pleasure of traveling to Virginia to play with my friends at #HighCaliberCamp at the end of September. Our main objective for the weekend: Make a Cleaver. Mission accomplished. Massive thanks to Austin from @HighCaliberCraftsman for hosting the event. As well as @onlinemetals for sponsoring the event and providing all this steel we smashed around. Also everyone who attended the event ...

So much more than a mug press!

Have you ever been in a group setting, and then, as a group, you come up with what is potentially a great/bad idea? Well, that's where this came from. But I think it's brilliant. Ultimately, it worked, and you can use the Cricut Mug Press for cooking as well as crafting. I made grilled cheese with two different types of bread, as well as a chocolate brownie mug cake. All of which were edible an...
Replacing the Hood Release on a Honda Element
Переглядів 1,9 тис.3 роки тому
I broke the hood release handle on my wife's 2006 #Honda #Element. Oops. So I made a replacement out of some scrap walnut. Then I painted the walnut, to match the rest of the car's interior blue. Also, because why not cover up that ugly brown color, right? With how this broke, it was a pretty straightforward repair. I am not confident enough to attempt many #CarRepairs, but this one is easy pea...
Making Serving Trays & Charcuterie Boards
Переглядів 3813 роки тому
I wanted to build up some inventory for an upcoming craft show. Luckily I've got some walnut that's been sitting around drying for some time now, and it was just itching to become something useful. I was able to get 3 pretty good looking chunks from it to make serving trays. I picked up some rubber feet for the bottoms, and an assortment of drawer pulls that make excellent handles for things li...

Upcycled Keepsake Box

A buddy wanted me to make a box for him. He sent me a handful of reference photos, and they were all antique style strong boxes. Wooden boxes reinforced with metal strips. Big, heavy things that would tote around who knows what valuables. He didn't want anything TOO large, and I wanted to make sure it's wasn't too much extra effort to lug this around. I had some oak planks that I took off an ol...
Easy Woodturning Project - Seam Rippers
Переглядів 5073 роки тому
These seam rippers are an easy project to get started with wood turning. It's no different than turning a pen. Assembly can be a little tricky if the inserts that hold the seam rippers in place in the tube don't play along. But otherwise this is a straightforward project that the seamstress - or seamster! - in your life will surely appreciate. My website: www.BearMaked.net Follow me on Social: ...
Making Aromatherapy Necklaces || DIY

I found these kits to make some #Aromatherapy Necklaces. They looked pretty simple. Turns out they are. And with extra bushings, they're short enough you can make more than one at a time on a standard pen mandrel. Get some here: www.pennstateind.com/store/PKATHNSS.html Once they're made, they have wicks that you drip with #EssentialOils, then wear it 'round your neck and you get the benefits of...

Great job! It turned out nicely. My wife showed me a photo of one similar and after watching your video I will definitely be making this for her birthday.
Parabéns muito bonito 👏 projeto. Voce poderia disponibilizar as medidas do projeto? Obrigado 🙂
They look like they're made of Christmas candy. Really nice.
I absolutely love seeing such beautiful work being created from a work space similar to mine! That an $8,000 setup isn't needed to make an out of the ordinary, extraordinary piece! Fantastic work!
how about making a clamping jig so that there is even pressure on the whole blank
i dont know if you are still using this method of if it has been suggested to you but have you thought of using a vacuum chamber to help soak up the dye quicker? food for thought.
Where do you get the metal pen tips etc to complete the pen
Beautiful build! Thank you for sharing!
WOW that was very cool.
Can you provide a list of wood material you used and the length of all the cuts?
Interesting..new to pen turning..free classes at my library..so cool
One UA-cam video means your almost an expert. Two means your just showing off. There are literally billions of options with epoxy scales... One, clear Two, coloured Three, need I go on?

This is absolutely an honest video on a build. Thank you so much for all the efforts made to build and post this video. I applaud you not for building these with no mistakes, but for highlighting and learning from your mistakes. I’m inspired and if I manage a project in 2023, I’ll let you know!
And on top of that, MadCatz pulled a fast one on me! This isn't a life support machine....This is just a bread box!
Love seeing the process! 🤘
Thanks for watching!
Bạn làm quá đẹp
Would be good if you could buy these
I agree! They'd be a pain in the arse to ship, though.
Hey, what’s the difference between water based dye and water based stain?
I can't remember exactly, but it has to do with how they penetrate into the wood fibers vs. just sitting on the surface of the wood.
Cool sign, i hope whoever made it doesn't get lost in the story though
So freakin awesome! I love seeing the process of how you got the vintage look! Great stuff bud!
Thank you, Ethan!
Hahaha love this!!! I’m sure Dave loves it!!
He sure seems to! And he better not say otherwise 😂
Completely awesome. Nice work. Fitting tribute to an awesome podcast.
Thank you, Devin!
No chance of me sleeping tonight after watching that!
Oh, oops! Blame Dave.
@@BearMaked Or both of you? But am I typing to a ghost?
@@AndyCPugh 👻
And I thought my shop was a mess. LOL Well didnt see the slashing coming or the woods or seeing you. Love the sign my man.
Thanks Stephen, glad I could keep you surprised! And yeah, my maid hasn't shown up for weeks.
Nice work. Good job setting a tone that matched the podcast
Thank you, Jacob! I'm glad the tone is recognizable
Nice. You nailed the ending!!
Thanks Emmett!
That ending!! Epic
Thanks Grant! Couldn't have done it without your suggestion
@@BearMaked Every once in a while I have a good idea... I just wish it was more often for my channel, lol
Freaking epic!
Thank you, Jeff!
Cool, excellent spooky CNC intro. Some of that weathering has me wondering if you’re the mystery.
The real mystery was the friends we made along the way.
After seeing this video i got in imagination that I wish I would be at your house and touch the pen it's super cool pen😘
Very cool idea, thank you for sharing, I bet you could do an amazing pen using multiple layers of veneer. New sub earned ;)
Gee wiz wouldnt you know it ........my lath just broke iast week
That's a cool print
Love watching "Forged in Fire", so kinda cool to see someone on UA-cam do something similar, only with more time and care. 😍
Thanks! Though I'm not sure if it took more time, we squeezed this into a pretty packed weekend. An awesome experience, though!
So where can I purchase one 😊 lol
Haha, I wouldn't want to ship one of these bad boys. I'd check for makers/woodworkers in your area and see if they're taking commissions!
Thanks for the video, was wondering how you found the squaring setup mine is off by a bit not matter how many times i try to square it ive followed the instructions to the T and still does not straight cuts on a slow angle : (
I just recently realized mine is out of square, too. Probably because I haven't adjusted or checked it since putting it together. It's tricky for me to square it up, too, but with patience and perseverance, we can prevail.
@@BearMaked haha true. I wonder if the cold is making a difference I keep mine in the garage and its cold right now like -17. If you get a chance maybe do a video up : ) might bee good to see someone else set it up tricks you now what I mean.
This is amazing!
Thanks!
My that is a plethora of paduak pens, really cool to see the different shapes and it was interesting to see the full finishing process with the ca glue and finishing compounds you use, very cool
Thanks buddy! My finishing process has evolved since I started making pens. Even earlier this year it was different, so it could change again.
@@BearMaked we're always looking for better ways to do things
This might be a 2022 purchase for me.
I think they're working on a new model, too. So keep an eye out.
Such a unique lamp. I might need a scienci intern…
Ha! They make great interns. Never complain.
Did you say you got it for a $1000?
Right about that, yep. Got it while it was on Kickstarter, early bird deal!
Do you remember how many 1x12x8 you bought?
I want to say 3, but that may be wrong, might've been 4. I think 3 works if you cut everything perfectly on the first try, but 4 gives you some wiggle room. I think. It's been a while so my memory might not be right 😅
This is awesome but I'm not that crafty to pull this off. Nice work though.
Thanks! And you may surprise yourself! Even 5 years ago I probably would have thought the same. But now I think I can make anything. It's probably not true, but I'll at least TRY it once 😂
The cleaver looks amazing justin, would totally use one like that in my day job
Thanks dude! I have yet to use it as a cleaver, Austin did not inspire confidence when talking about his heat treat process 😂
@@BearMaked lol only one way to find out
You didn’t show how you got the CA glued bushings off.
Oh! I normally just have to give them a tap or a wiggle and they'll pop right off. Not very often I'll have to grab a needle nose pliers or something to get a better grip on them.
I really liked that turning split screen. So much action.
Thanks, Dean!
They came out awesome dude, so smooth! I use mine everyday.
Thanks Morley! Glad to hear it's getting put to work
Beautiful work👍
Thank you!
Awesome. I'm using mine all the time. I think mine was the one you showed while finishing.
Glad to hear you use it!
